Gangtok is the capital of the mountainous northern Indian state of Sikkim. It is located in the eastern Himalayan range, at an elevation of 1,650 m (5,410 ft). Sikkim is a state in northeast India, bordered by Bhutan, Tibet and Nepal. Part of the Himalayas, the area has a dramatic landscape that includes India’s highest mountain, 8,586m Kangchenjunga. It is also home to glaciers, alpine meadows and thousands of varieties of wildflowers. My travel to Gangtok and places near by was the most memorable. Gangtok offered me with the pictures i always dreamed about! Here are some special images i got to capture for the first time and have been thrilled by the beauty of Gangtok. Would recommend everyone to visit once in your lifetime. Hope you enjoy the pictures.
Startrails from Gangtok... My first successful Star Trail image. Many people have been asking me how did I get to capture the star trails. Well, this was with lot of study i did to understand the Camera's behavior in pitch dark conditions. Its interesting to do so and thus elaborating on what Star Trails are and how it works. Star trails occur because stars "move" across the sky as the Earth rotates, and so when a camera keeps its shutter open for an extended period of time it will absorb this moving light as light trails. The circular pattern occurs due to the fact that the Earth rotates rather than slides across the universe. Some camera information which made this image: Nikon D850, Tamron 15-30 mm F-2.8 G2 Lens, F/2.8, Exposure Time 20 sec., ISO-1250, Focal Length 15 mm, used the camera's built in Intervalometer.

Kangchenjunga, also spelled Kanchenjunga, is the third highest mountain in the world. It rises with an elevation of 8,586 m (28,169 ft) in a section of the Himalayas called Kangchenjunga Himal delimited in the west by the Tamur River, in the north by the Lhonak Chu and Jongsang La, and in the east by the Teesta River. It lies between Nepal and Sikkim, India, with three of the five peaks (Main, Central, and South) directly on the border, and the remaining two (West and Kangbachen) in Nepal's Taplejung District. Captured with Nikon D7200 at 150mm withTamron SP 150-600mm F/5-6.3 Di VC USD G2 Lens.
